Fondazione Prada presents Helter Skelter, a major exhibition bringing together the work of Arthur Jafa and Richard Prince. Curated by Nancy Spector, the project features more than fifty works including photographs, videos, installations, paintings and sculptures. Although they belong to different generations, both artists share a fascination with collecting, appropriating and transforming images drawn from American visual culture. Jafa focuses on Black identity and the cultural experience of African Americans, while Prince explores the myths and contradictions surrounding white masculinity and contemporary America. Through a series of thematic juxtapositions, the exhibition highlights unexpected connections between their practices and offers a broader reflection on the imagery, obsessions and social tensions that continue to shape the United States. Helter Skelter reveals how popular culture can become a powerful tool for artistic and political inquiry.
